Any material success we get, we should somehow utilize it in service of God (to re-awaken the divine consciousness in ourselves and in others). Anyways, material success is temporary and if it is only for self recognition then it is futile
and bloats the ego
Practical tip : It is okay to be successful in one's profession, job, hobbies, but the point should be kept in mind that if the material success is not utilized in service of God, then all such material success would become futile.

Inspite of climbing the ladder to success and getting awards and degrees, we do not get lasting peace and happiness because we have not fully re-awakened the love for God in our hearts. So we can say this simple Vedic prayer but in a begging mood : "God please give me back the Love which i had for You." And He will reciprocate depending on the intensity of our mood
Instead of asking God for car, money or apartment we should ask God for his love and service which helps one to return back to one's original home in the spiritual world. One fell from the spiritual world to the material world because of desire to enjoy separately from God
